KieDart Fractal

This CAD model was designed by Oskar van Deventer, copyright (c), 17 August 2025.

KiteDart Fractal is based on the Penrose tiling. It is described in more detail here: https://tilings.math.uni-bielefeld.de/substitution/fractal-kite-dart/ . For a given kite-and-dart pattern, one can make a more detailed version through substitution: kite -> kite+dart, dart -> kite+2xdart. When this substitution is repeated many times, then the result is this fractal pattern. This version was laser-cut of 3-mm acrylic. The frame is 3D-printed. 20 2x3-mm magnets ( https://www.supermagnete.de/eng/disc-magnets-neodymium/disc-magnet-3mm-2mm_S-03-02-N ) are inserted to keep the frame together.
